Why criticising the actions of the Israeli government does not (necessarily) constitute antisemitism.

Anti-what?
Gaza is the most densely populated place on earth. Try to think of your nearest big city being persistently shelled by bombs and missiles. Israel has levelled Gaza, slaughtering a helpless population. It is choking the flow of aid, leading to more suffering and starvation. That’s wrong.

Technology

Anyone heard of TextExpander? A great little application and/or extension that inserts snippets when I type the relevant code. wmem, for example, should expand into my request for readers to subscribe to this newsletter. Handy. On Linux? No chance. I've looked for alternatives, and even tried installing one or two. Nope. Not playing. I'll keep looking.

On the other hand, I was at the beach, hoping to finish some work while Mrs L topped up the tan. My phone connects to the beach club WiFi no problem. The Linux machine. Nope. Five minutes searching on the phone, and I discovered that I had to find the IP address of the gateway. I was given instructions of how I could task the machine with doing this, and once it had done it, I could go ahead and connect.

Using Linux can be frustrating and intimidating, but at times it makes me feel like an IT God.

I've rotated keyboards, now using my Qwerkywriter, which is happy to play with the Linux machine.

Sporting

I've been playing Padel, although it's getting increasingly hot here. Evenings seem less steamy than mornings. I've not played any golf for weeks, although I will play this week as a friend is over for his annual holiday, so it seems churlish not to make the effort.

Watching - there's been Lions Rugby, The Open Championship, a cracking Test Match and the Women's Euros, all competing for my attention. What a cracking summer of sport.

Shopping

I have a small office beneath my house. It's a converted carport. There are two desks, both from Ikea. One is a small writing desk and the other, where I type now, is a manually adjustable sit/stand desk. A mechanical sit/stand desk has been on my wish list for a while.

My order is in. I've gone for the biggest size, a solid oak top and all sorts of add-ons. A shelf, cable management, laptop stand and the like. It's my hope that this will serve for years to come. I've even ordered the oil to maintain the top.

That's me broke again.

Have a cracking week - and keep cool!
