Writing

This week, perhaps unsurprisingly, was all about the fire.

Fire
The skyline reminded me of Manhattan, but with pillars of flame rather than skyscrapers. The fire was north and east of us and getting closer.
Fire II
A plane load of water would hurt if it landed on your head. aircraft from Cyprus, Greece, Spain, Israel, Jordan and the UK were flying all day every day, wrestling to get the wildfire tamed.
Fire III
I will never forget the sight of a mother, each arm over the shoulder of a child, sobbing as she regarded the rubble where her house used to stand. Nor can I remove from my mind the horror of being burned alive in a car, trying to escape.
After the Fire
13 villages lost homes. Current estimates are that 191 homes were damaged and 93 completely destroyed. My village, Souni-Zanadja, was the worst affected.

Shopping

Not the week for this. I have been looking up prices for incinerated things for an insurance claim.

Reading

I've just finished Meditations for Mortals by Oliver Burkeman, which is a provoking read. I continue to enjoy "There are Rivers in the Sky" by Elif Shafak. I love her prose, which is poetic in places.

Technology

TextExpander started working again in Brave. Huzzah! Every few days though, it breaks; suggesting that I clear cache and restart. That usually fixes it again. As ever, I have no real idea what is going on, or why, but it works, so I'm happy.

Have a fabulous week, and stay safe.
