It's been three weeks.
Walk
I completed the Cancer Care 100 for PASYKAF. Led by the incredible Deb McEwan my best friend Stu and I got ourselves through 100 km of hot walking in Cyprus. We raised 7,622 Euro. A job well done.
Stu and I used our tried and tested method of using mostly red wine for fuel and white wine for light relief. No injuries, not even a blister. It was a fabulous experience. The weather was unseasonably warm, which really told around lunch time, but we kept on trucking and got it done.
Seasons
Our visitors have all left now, and autumn is finally making an effort. The days are still warm, but the nights are getting a little chilly now. The current Mrs L & I go through a bit of a season change now. As the nights draw in, we both tend to want to stay home more. Long trousers make a re-appearance and we actually check the weather before making plans. I'm waiting for the Esso man to come fill our fuel tank for the central heating.
Health
My weight loss continues, I'm down 22kg now, so 48lbs or nearly 3 and a half stone. I want to lose about the same again - so not done yet. I've had my flu jab - but a Covid booster seems harder to get in Cyprus, these days.
Year Review
It's that time of year that I begin thinking about a year review and a planning session for next year. Health and fitness will be a continued focus, as will the business. I have enough clients now to mean I need to stay on top of things. I will have to draw on Mrs L's skills to keep systems ticking over. Some travel would be nice, too. Ideally, we have a house-sitter who looks after the dogs in situ - otherwise doggy-hotels can take a big bite of the budget.
Politics
My migration to the left seems almost complete. The conventional wisdom is that from an idealistic left-wing student we all gradually become property-owning capitalists, thirsting after low taxes and small government. Three years ago, I was still a subscriber to the Daily Telegraph. However, as the right has moved further and further right, embracing disturbingly autocratic methods, I've found myself pushed ever further left. The Telegraph is gone - replaced by the Guardian and the New York Times.
