I want to make a living from writing, with a direct connection between me and the people who enjoy it.

No advertising chasing your attention. No algorithm deciding whether we’re allowed to stay in touch. Just me writing things I hope you’ll find worth reading, and you choosing whether to support that work.

Become a supporter

If you enjoy my writing and would like to help me do more of it, become a paid member.

Your membership buys me time to think, research, write and work towards longer projects. It helps keep this an independent publication, shaped by my curiosity and my readers.

As a supporter, you’ll receive:

  • A monthly members’ letter: a more personal look at what’s on my mind and what I’m working on.
  • Occasional extracts and early previews of longer work.
  • Access to the archive of members-only posts.

Above all, you’ll be helping make the next piece possible. £3 a month or £24 a year.

Why publish this way?

Publishers and platforms can do valuable work. But I’d like to build something where the relationship with readers comes first, and more of the money readers spend reaches the person doing the creating.

This site is my attempt at that: a home for my essays, ideas and, in time, books.

If you’d like to help it grow, I’d love to have you along.
